Product Overview

Congratulations! You grew a great yield, but now what? Learn how to can and preserve your bountiful harvest at our FREE Canning basics class offered in connection with Bastrop County! In honor of September's National Preparedness month, we'd like to encourage you all to learn a new skill that just might help your family!

Our friend Julie Rice, a Bastrop County health inspector and canning enthusiast, will walk us through the basics of safe canning practices and demonstrate two canning methods. We will be preserving Headlong Farm's own homegrown pumpkins using the pressure canning method, and also making delicious prickly pear jelly with the water bath canning method.

The county is generous enough to offer these classes for free to teach us all how to safely prepare food at home. Get a chance to learn about the equipment, tested methods, and general rules of canning at home.

Come ready to learn and take notes. Non-alcoholic beverages will be provided for all attendees.

Ticket cost: Free!
Time: 12 PM - 2 PM
Date: Saturday September 21st
