Step into the world of buzzing bees and honey flows with an Intro to Beekeeping class taught by our friend Kate from Rune Exchange, hosted at Headlong Farm!
Kate is an experienced local beekeeper whose Rune Farm apiary is a certified supplier of Real Texas Honey™. She is also on track to become a Texas Master Beekeeper as part of the Texas Beekeeper Association's certification program.
This beginner level class will provide aspiring beekeepers with basic knowledge about where to start with bees, informative handouts, hands-on demonstrations, and more! Kate will cover the structure of bee colonies, equipment needed, the honey production process, and keeping hives healthy in central Texas ecosystems. There will be time for questions and coordination for more advanced classes if there is interest in the future.
All attendees will leave with a goodie bag filled with laminated handouts, pen and notepad, and a small beeswax candle from Rune Exchange Apiary. Non-alcoholic beverages will be provided, plus lots of time to tour the farm and snuggle our Spring baby goats or check out what's fresh in the farm shop.
