Toscano Kale (Brassica oleracea)

Toscano Kale, also known as Lacinato or Dinosaur Kale, is a leafy green vegetable renowned for its dark, crinkled leaves and high nutritional value. It thrives in well-drained, fertile soils with a pH between 6.0 and 7.5. This kale variety prefers full sun but can tolerate some shade, especially in warmer climates. It grows best when planted in early spring or late summer in USDA Zones 8a and 8b, and it’s well-suited for both fall and winter gardening due to its frost tolerance.

Toscano Kale is a staple in many kitchens, praised for its versatility in dishes ranging from salads and soups to sautés. Its deep-green leaves are packed with vitamins and antioxidants, contributing to its popularity in healthy diets.
